I seek to better the world in which I live by promoting common solutions to social problems by working with those that have the capacity and commitment to change the world we live in.
I am an experienced nonprofit executive with a track record of rebuilding programs, internal operations, and relations with community stakeholders. I started my career in the classroom developing my skills in communication and leading teams of individuals. I expanded my experience by working in and with arts education, an international association foundation, multiple social service agencies aligning their programs with the mission and vision of the organizations’ and reaching out to the community to better inform them of the work we did.
At each assignment I have found that internal operations needed to be reviewed, strengthened, and re-evaluated. Everything from program activities to financial controls needed to be reworked to insure that the organizations I was associated with could operate in a manner consistent with best practices and transparency. When in charge of the organization it was one of my primary objectives to align actual operations with best practices. I worked to insure that the operations of the organization were consistent with its mission and vision and could withstand public scrutiny.
I started my career delivering programs as an educator, moved to resource development and community outreach, and ultimately became an executive director for various organizations in transition.
