I've been going to the Big Y in West Hartford, CT for about a year and a half.
In that time, I've been wholly impressed with the dedicated focus of every single employee doing their jobs inside and outside the store.
Also in that time, I've never had a conversation in the Big Y parking lot ... until yesterday, May 3, 2018.
Yesterday, my adult son mischievously surprised me by sneaking up behind me while I was in line and, after the initial happy shock, we ended up enjoying the sunshine and talking for about an hour in the parking lot.
Towards the end of our conversation, a Big Y employee who was collecting the shopping carts ... as I've seen him dutifully do dozens of times over the past 1.5 years... abruptly injected himself into our conversation: "Do you lift weights? You must be able to lift a lot of weight! How much can you lift? Can you lift 200 pounds?"
He blurted these rapid-session questions out in a wide-eyed, super-curious manner as he focused on my son's arms!
My son and I were both happy to see his excitement!
But, I was also a bit bemused that the Big Y employee focused so much on my son's arms that I might as well have been a ghost witnessing the two of them converse! :-)
