Advertising / Marketing / Channel Usage For 2010

Considering this study was done at the end of last year, beginning of this year it will be interesting to see how the percentages all play out. This is the 4th year of this study done by Target Marketing. Happily 43.5% of marketers plan to keep budgets level with last year’s expenditures and 40% plan no decreases so that is the good news for people and companies like…

Can Europe Survive? Life after Katla...

The recent chaos surrounding the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland – with effects being felt globally in terms of significant financial losses, disruption to travellers, disruption to food supplies, and so on – needs to provoke some serious discussion as to what actions are needed to prevent even greater, and much longer-term, chaos in the event of a more significant eruption.…

SEO/SES Revisited

In the old days, 11 years ago, we would put up a site, list out key works on the home page, pack in Meta tap key words and describing and then submit the site every 15-16 days. Those days and the revenue that they produced are gone. Did they work? Yes back then they did. But times have changed with things such as real time search, on-line pr & blogs and social…

Why Would Someone Want to be a Leader?

It's a question I find myself asking every now and then. Being a leader always comes with it added responsibility in some form or another. Added responsibility because everyone has things they are responsible for in their life. Whether it is their rent or mortgage, grocery bills, school homework, parenthood responsibilities, job responsibilities, you name it. We all have them in some mix. When a person is a leader, added responsibilities come about. With that added pressures, added stress, more… Continue

Under the previous status quo, women across America faced a number of appalling and discriminatory health care practices. Women were paying premiums of up to 48% more than male counterparts on the individual market, and could be denied coverage for such "pre-existing conditions" as pregnancy, having had a C-section or being the victim of domestic violence.

THIS YEAR - This year, a high-risk pool provides access to affordable coverage to women who… Continue

In a recent study people wanted companies to contact them in a growing trend towards print and direct mail rather than being contacted thru e-mail.

Social Media Giants, LinkedIn and Twitter link up (via Reuters)

(Reuters) - LinkedIn and Twitter have linked up. Starting immediately, users of LinkedIn and Twitter can cross-file to each other's services, by checking a box on either Twitter or LinkedIn.

LinkedIn is the largest professional social network, with 50 million members around the world who post information about themselves, such as resumes, to help find jobs or employees, and to stay in touch with each other.

Twitter allows people to broadcast short messages up to 140…

Social Media: Friend or Foe

When trying to work your message out though the web of Social Media we can find ourselves stonewalled. It makes no difference how main street SM has become, it is a basic shift in the way we were use to working from just 3 years ago.

As you build and work into SM you need to develop a base and a plan of action. With so many people starting to use SM, to talk on SM, you need to build an awareness of building strong relationships with your existing customers and to develop…

Twitter - the "Next Big Thing" for Business?

With Twitter set to pass the magic 100 Million user mark later this month, or early May, and the company having been valued at around a Billion Dollars last year, it’s moved from the realms of novelty. So, should business sit up and take note; is it the “Next Big Thing” as a business tool?…

Poor Measurement Makes For Bad Appraisal Of ROI

If you don’t track what your SM sites are doing you have no idea what is working and what is not. If you’re tracking the wrong stuff you can go way off course, especially with it comes to Social Media. It becomes very easy to fall into the trap of measuring activities and not results.

Activities are how many names you collect on twitter of any other SM site and not just the results those activities actually bring. If it does not net you a sale is it worth the time and effort?…
