Cloud computing is a key resource for smaller businesses and organizations that need access to scale without paying the brunt of costs for scaling their own infrastructure.

Hi, Mike,

At the moment, participation is light... I would guess that that's because we're all a bit busy - and, indeed, trying to catch up/get ahead on the New Year...however, I'm sure that they'd all appreciate any posts you make via this comment wall, discussions directly on the group, or messages to all group members...(of course, let me know if I can help you with the management of the group...)

Participation in this forum seems to be pretty light.  What is everyone thinking out there?  Any grand predictions for cloud computing in 2012?  Will security in the cloud make strides?  Too many issues around security to adequately list here, but what about access security?  Network security?  What about insider threats from a rogue sys admin within your cloud provider?

I'm planning to be at the upcoming Cloud Connect event at the Santa Clara Convention Center Feb. 13-16 and at the RSA Cloud Security Alliance summit in late February in San Francisco.  Anyone else planning to attend?

OK. In that case, perhaps, we can get one of the more senior Cloud professionals here to address your question. I'd recommend that you reach out to someone like Guy Whitcroft or Thomas Lidforss. Please check out some of their insights below...

Marie,
Did you look at the video here on the home page of Cloud Computing? It may provide a few useful insights...

Hi everyone,

I've recently heard this term and am interested in finding out more and how it can be used in social and professional terms.

Thanks,
Valerie.

I have made a priority of using cloud resources so my important files are ever-ready and machine-independent. My next computer will probably be a net-book or equivalent.
