Catharses And Self Esteem

Social Stress Management

(And An Encouraging IF*)

Here’s a subject I know something about: STRESS! :-)

And using some of my recent experiences here on the Forum, here’s a very simple but useful methodology to help you keep your head on straight even in the midst of intense, on-going networker stress:

Self Esteem

I mishandled some email messages

I feed like no other place Brandergy members will find

I mishandled an emotional situation

I serve as a living example of the danger of emotions at play/work. While preferring peace, we grapple with things that you’ll face in real world networking.

I mismanaged a team

I encouraged a bigger bunch of people

I showed raw anger

I showed raw love

I let the theme of the Forum be too broad

I fed a large variety of food to a large variety of people

I’ve been beat up by a few people

I’ve been embraced by a LOT people

I let the Forum become too large

I have 35 factorial ways of feeding them!!

35 factorial = 1.0333148 × 1040 (Anyone want to look up the NAME of that number?)

I can feed unique meals to a LOT more than the 250 Million Linkedin users! :-)

This little stress management system is bi-directional and is color coded with Black representing a cathartic moment, Green representing “go to the next box”, and Orange representing esteem.

Some people will want you to see out of the Black Lens to persuade you to look only at the mistakes you’ve made.   Friends will want you to see out of the Orange Lens as a counter to the attacks of others.   Friends who love you and want you to grow beyond cathartic moments AND who want to celebrate your achievements will work with you to be “bi-focal” so that you can see what the REAL C.A.S.E. is!

Now here’s something good to chew on to keep yourself going when foes keep trying to dismantle your networking work.

This is some good food folks so, I recommend that you read it at least once a day for 21 days and see how much easier it is to deal with the sometimes seemingly impossible stresses of real world networking life on or offline.

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you

But make allowance for their doubting too,

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,

If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breath a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;

If all men count with you, but none too much,

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,

And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
