Do you need a break from your day-to-day routine?  Do you always feel like you need a vacation from your vacation?  If the answer is yes, then our Yoga retreat is the perfect escape for you.  Join Leah Boston of Fit Girl Treats & Cheska Barneveld on the Isle of Holbox, Mexico for 6 nights of fun in the sun, daily yoga, and hours of relaxation.  Please keep in mind that Holbox is all about rustic Island living and simplicity so we ask that you keep an open mind and enjoy what the local scene has to offer.

Arrival

Our retreat starts on Sunday, September 17 at 5 pm, we ask that you try and book a flight getting you into Cancun airport before 2 pm. Once your booking is confirmed we will coordinate a van for the group to make their way to Holbox. Refreshments will be available upon arrival on Sunday along with a 6:30 pm restorative sunset yoga session.  After yoga you will have the option to go into town for dinner as a group or individually.

Departure

Our retreat concludes on Saturday, September 23 at 11 am.  There will be an optional 6:30 am Sunrise Yoga class that morning and breakfast provided for our closing meal.  Make sure to arrange your travel accordingly so you can enjoy a relaxing morning before heading back to reality.  We promise you won’t want to leave early!

WHY KNOT PROJECT

Journey To Holbox

*Flights are not included in your package.  You will need to fly into Cancun International Airport.  Please book your flights as soon as you can to guarantee the best flights for you.

From Cancun International Airport: Drive from Cancun to Chiquila (approx. 2.5 hours).  From Chiquila you take the high-speed ferry over to Holbox (20 mins) & a quick taxi ride to Whyknot.  Please note that Holbox does not allow cars, all transportation is either bike or the local golf cart taxi services called HOLCAR.  Taxis are 50 pesos from our location to anywhere in town.

(Approximate time from airport to the Island is 3 hours, bring reading material, make sure your devices are charged, pack snacks and relax).

Accommodations

We will be staying at the beautiful, privately owned WHY KNOT PROJECT property.  There are 7 small houses with a communal kitchen on site.  Each room is equipped with 1 king size bed and you will have the option to book a private room or a shared room/shared bed (see pricing details below).  You will be accommodated accordingly.

The property includes access to a pool, a courtyard area and an outside deck that is quite perfect for our daily practice.  You will have the freedom to come and go, as you please, made easy by the rental bikes we have included in your package.  It is less than a ten-minute ride to town and a 5-minute walk to the beach.

What is Included

*All Accommodations: 6 nights in total

*Refreshments upon arrival Sunday afternoon

*6 family style plant-based breakfasts prepared by Leah of Fit Girl Treats

*10 yoga classes

*1 arm balance workshop

What is not Included

*Flights: Please start checking places like Google flights as soon as you book so you can get the best flight deal for you!

*Yoga mats and props (Please bring a mat, blanket or sarong to practice on.  Please note that if you bring a mat and we practice on the beach you will most likely never get all of the sand off)

*Lunch & Dinner:  The town is easily accessible to you and the local restaurants are very affordable.  You will also have the option to cook on the premises in the communal kitchen.

Holbox Activities

The Holboxeno:  Feel free to book any activities that catch your eye during your days on the island.  If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me or Cheska and we will do our best to help you in your planning.

We will be offering the option to take a private whale shark excursion at a discounted group rate one day during the week.  Please specify if you are interested in this excursion when booking.

Other things to bring

  1. *Make sure to pack a pair of sensible shoes.  I love to go barefoot just as much as the next person but you may want a pair of sneakers for bike riding, walking to town etc.
  2. *A beach bag, not only can you use it for bringing your things to the beach but it can also second as a reusable grocery bag and will probably be more comfortable to carry if you decide to make a grocery run.
  3. *You will definitely want cash on hand as ATM’s are not easily accessible on the Island.  Pesos is the local currency and you will get the best rate if you exchange your dollars before arrival.  Exchange rate is currently $1 = 20 pesos
  4. *Sunblock is ESSENTIAL.  Make sure you pack your favorite kind and enough of it to get you through the week.  You will be able to find sunblock in town as well.  The point is to avoid sunburn so that sunburn doesn’t keep you from enjoying your time on the island.
  5. *Bug Repellent: Holbox is still mainly a virgin Island and there are Mosquitoes.
  6. *Camera, GoPro or any other device you may want to document your memories on the Island and a waterproof case for the device if you want to bring it on the beach with you.
  7. *Don’t over pack.  You’re on vacation, be comfortable, be you.
