I Cannot Afford Not To Be An Open Networker On Linkedin

A declaration, a revelation, and a promise of "a future why":

1. "I cannot afford not to be an open networker on Linkedin."

2. Nor can Linkedin afford for its members to not be open networkers.

3. I hope to explain why/how I reached my declaration and revelation a
little bit later during the course of this week..

PRECISELY, Paul!

If I'm an adult citizen, I don't need Linkedin to try to serve as my parent telling me whom I can and cannot connect with and under what circumstances.

Let Linkedin:

  1. Form a government,
  2. design laws,
  3. grant me citizenship, and
  4. let me go on about my business...

Different type of networking (open/select/etc) make sense for different people. LinkedIn should have a way to designate what type you are and make it consistent. In other words, accept the fact that "different strokes for different folks" is reality and accommodate it.

No, Chris. (I'm revisiting a post from 4 years ago...)

However, I agree with you about Linkedin's serious inconsistencies with LION's and Toplinkedin, etc.

The reason I say that is these things weren't permitted then they WERE permitted then they were IGNORED and now they're being challenged again - even after more than one intimation that Linkedin was RECOMMENDING them to non-group members...
