Going Hmm versus Nodoubt

Going Hmm versus Nodoubt

So there seems to be 2 lines of thinking with regards to what to look for when reviewing a resume.

Some recruiters, staffing professionals, and hiring managers look for a nodoubt, sure things,…

What i need for a client

Before you send me a deal make sure that the client has this information  and can pitch me his business!

State your name, title and company name. A title of "founder" may be a good choice where you don't have any prior experience. Begin with the problem (pain/need) - from the point of view of your potential customers. Describe how you are going to do it better, cheaper or faster - in this case it is better and faster. How big is the market? How many people have this problem and would be…

Do's and Don'ts of Designing Your Brand

Say you’re not feeling well. You go to the doctor and describe your symptoms. The doctor listens at first, then asks a series of very directed questions to narrow down your particular situation. The doctor will likely review your patient file, perhaps do a bit…

Coaching Notes - Chapter One

Dr. Earl R. Smith II

Managing Partner, Growthers

After I sold off my interest in my last company I decided to head for Scotland to pursue PhD research into social and political systems. It turned out to be a very productive break - clearing my mind of all focus on business for just over four years. Upon my return, I faced the proverbial ‘clean slate’ challenge. ‘What was I going to do now?’

After a bit of wandering around, I decided that,…

by Matt Falls

At Growthers we take a slightly different approach to the installation and management of a Customer Relationship Management System (CRM). We view the CRM as a tool to drive revenue. We show clients how to use the CRM to provide structure to the revenue generation process, to set metrics and to create a culture that focuses the entire revenue generation team on finding the best path to revenue.

thought of the week

Everytime i pick up the phone and a client of a private equity group will ask me what is the problem with our numbers, business is down. The next they all seem to do is go into the fact that they have had all these big consulting groups come in and set up new marketing ,new procedures and there is a temporary fix! I tell them that i can do a 3 day review of there business and come up with a plan. Last week i did a quick one and at the end they asked me what i thought and i gave them something…

Captions on Cisco Phones

Recently, I was asked to participate in a video Cisco and ClearCaptions were making regarding captioned phones. They flew me down to California in February and taped the video on Cisco headquarters.

The video is finally out and there is a nice press release too! The words I spoke were my own and I was not compensated for my part in this video.

This service is now available at my employer's site because I asked a simple question at a business dinner one night. To me, this is…

Is HR Management a true System?

In the LinkedIn groups (TLS-TOC Lean & Six Sigma in particular) there has been an ongoing conversation about when you merge the three. In the course of the discussion we posted a comment regarding an output from a seminar we were facilitating which talked about an organization in which the job requisition was reviewed and approved three times by the same person in a hiring effort. One of participants replied that that was an indication of mismanagement not a system problem. He further…

Coaching Notes - Excuses and Such

Dr. Earl R. Smith II

Managing Partner, Growthers

Many of my coaching engagements start out covering fairly rocky ground. When people come to me for help, they are in some sort of distress. Often their tendency to diagnose their challenges rather than prospecting for their future - and that presents a real problem.

pitching my investment

A lot of questions have been asked lately on pitching my product to investors do i need a  Regulation d ,business plan and a powerpoint how many frames. The answer i give them is if you plan to be in a market and you do not have a solid plan to start with you will fall on your face if you pitch a investor and you are not solid you will fall on your face. When you get to be in front of an investor  (Repeat, do not) launch into a 10 minute monologue about your best-of-breed,…
