Cost of Fuel

I have been thinking quite a bit about the cost of one gallon of gasoline and the impact this expense is having on many Americans in so many ways.

It is not bad enough that we have to pay almost $3.50 per gallon but everything we purchase is going up in price because of it. The increased cost of living covers more that just the fuel that we use in our own vehicles. It includes the fuel to heat our homes, the fuel to heat our schools, office buildings, grocery stores etc.… Continue

A Dude's Guide

A Dude’s Guide is a supposed to be a funny and insightful look into what it takes for a Dude to be a better person. We are not saying that we are exceptional, insightful or funny people; but we try. We will use our experiences and adventures and misadventures to try to help other Dude’s learn and contribute to this Blog.

We will start by using our unique viewpoint on fatherhood and the sticky mess made of it by us and (we believe) most men. We will take takes a fresh perspective on… Continue

Primary Election Day in Pennsylvania

I voted in our [Pennsylvania] primary election today.

I am amazed at how fickle Americans are when it comes to voting. Sometimes they turn out en-mass and other times the turn out can be embarrassing. I question this inconsistency.

When election day comes, I think about all of the people who fought for the freedom to vote. I think about countries who do not have this option and how lucky we are here in the USA to have the ability to select our leaders.

I think… Continue

Can't Rename Facebook Group So, How Do I Delete A Facebook Group ?

Facebook doesn't permit you to rename a group so, if your mission for a group is no longer viable, groups can't be renamed.

For example, if you have a Facebook group called "Celebrating2007", that group can't be renamed Celebrating2008, Celebrating2009, Celebrating2010, etc.

Thus, if you are no longer celebrating 2007, the group dedicated to that purpose gets "frozen in time". [wink, wink]

So, how does a Facebook group creator delete the group called… Continue

Marketing ROI

I recently saw an article by Eric Gagnon. I have parphrased and edited parts of his document below.

The focus on measurement of B2B marketing programs is a major issue for many of us who run and manage marketing programs for our companies or clients. Marketers now find they need to measure every marketing activity partly because many marketing programs were in past years not asked to demonstrate measurable return on investment. Some organizations are looking at Marketing ROI as part… Continue

What an interviewer should ask a marketing interviewee...

The other day, I was asked what an interviewer should ask a marketing interviewee to cut through the fluff and find out what he/she knows. Here are three questions to consider:

1) How important is internal marketing and branding in today’s environment?

2) What tactics have you used to demonstrate marketing ROI?

3) What problems/issues/challenges does Gen Y provide to marketers?

We are in a long-term transition with the Baby-Boomers leaving the work place and… Continue

If There Is A War For Talent, Why Is It So Hard For You To Find A Job?

In my industry of choice, the recruitment industry, there is the long standing mantra of "a war for talent".

As a Recruiter, I know all too well how fierce it is to find clients, find candidates, and to bring them together in a timely fashion in order to get paid for doing so. I'm also aware that the US Economy lost more than 80,000 jobs in the month of March 2008, alone.

But, here's my question: "If there… Continue
