First of all I felt much honored to be the Curator of the Brandergy Winese. I felt in love with wines of France as an adolescent in a wine area. When I was in young I always imagined that wine came in six colors red, pink, brown, white and grey like some Alsatian wines (pinot gris) and yellow (like the wine of Jura "Vin Jaune") with various levels of sweetness . I started opening many bottles for a Christmas party then I discovered a very extraordinary range of flavors.
There was yellow wine which is a special characteristic type of wine with many best kept secrets in Arbois village where lived Louis Pasteur more than a century ago. The wine of Arbois seems to have been caught in a time warp all of their own. It is similar to dry fine Sherry.
There was also red Bordeaux with his raspberry contrasting with the gamey flavor of older vintages. I do also discover the Burgundy with the blackcurrants from Blaye and Saint Emilion. I discovered the gooseberries in Sancerre and spring in the Rhône area.
I continued my education in trips from England to France with the help of my friend wine expert Charlie Arturaola and film actor (The Duel of Wine) that became an expert sommelier in Bordeaux and Italia. Now he is a professional critic and famous International Wine Communicator of the London IWSC that knows all about the French system "appellations controlees" of each region and more than 30.000 wine labels. I have learned and travelled extensively with Charlie France to Italia, La Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Champagne area, to Alsace, Germany, Portugal, Plovdiv in Bulgaria, Venice, seen all sorts of grapes very near the "grand cru" appellation with a subtle flavor that set wine apart from almost anything else that you can drink.
My aim in this Brandergy Group is to provide you all members with a few paths through the exciting maze of world wine and to advise you all about the qualities of almost any Good wine 'Bon Vin' and how to drink it on daily basis. As a day without wine it is a day without sunshine!
