Back to the drawing board

Isn't the drawing board the place where all the best work happens? It's not a bad thing to go back there. It's the entire point. (HT to Neil).

Forget Perfection! Succeed WITH Mistakes

hmmm...How can I say this? I wish I could figure out a way to be mistake free but, after spending several decades contemplating that intriguing little human concept called perfection, I think it's safe to say that mistake-free is not something that's going to happen to me. (And there's a good chance it's not going to happen to you, either! But, you're still going to be, ok. Let me explain...) When I was very, very, VERY young, I got bitten by the "Perfection Bug". Whether the subject was grammar or spelling or enunciation or physical fitness or archery or saxophone techniques, I LOVED the pursuit of perfection! I never achieved perfection in any of them - - - Yet, while I made an abundance of mistakes, in retrospect, I'm comfortable in saying that I did improve substantially in all those areas in which I…See More

Bring the Hiring Manager Closer to Staffing(HMCS) Methodology!!

Bring the Hiring Manager Closer to Staffing (HMCS) Methodology!!The idea behind MHCS is one of training, informing and creating a true, collaborative "hiring Team" out of the hiring manager, recruiter, and interviewers. This method blurs the corporate lines of demarcation that exists between these function to create a truly unique and highly agile and successful "Hiring Team". Some of what will be accomplished is:1. A better understanding by the Hiring Managers(HM) and their teams of staffing.2. A reduced time to fill, due to better communication and a more collaborative environment.3. The ability to be flexible and maximize resources available within the Hiring team(HT).4. So much more. Now keep in mind this method is not needed in all cases. This method is best used when you have a client group, that…See More

Christmas in July

Today is Friday, July 25, 2014.  Welcome to Christmas in July!Throughout junior and senior high school I was a C.I.T. (counselor-in-training) and, eventually a Counselor and Assistant Waterfront Director at the local Y day camp (Warwick, Rhode Island) and, then, overnight camp in Western Rhode Island. In each place, every year on July 25, we celebrated Christmas in July - decorated evergreens (or, maybe, just the branches pieced together); made gifts - lanyards, popsicle stick boxes, stones painted into frogs or insects or strange, hard creatures and all.  Singing Christmas carols in our shorts and sandals.  Creating imitation snow from rolls and rolls of shredded toilet paper. It is a sweet remembering - filled with giggles, laughter, singing, hushed whispers, tissue paper unwrapping; and, the saved (for a time) precious objects. On this July 25, 2014 (as has often happened on previous July 25th), I continue to receive the gifts of those days and those places.Merry Christmas in July to…See More

Guest Locker

Guest Locker is an Android Security App that allows you to freely hand off your device to friends and family while protecting data you want to keep secure – no rooting required.

Each user creates two passwords: an admin and a guest. The user then decides what is visible in guest mode: who can and can't call in or send texts, what apps are shown, which photos are viewable, etc. Guests will never see restricted folders and will have no idea they are seeing a restricted view. When the user logs back into admin from guest mode, all calls and texts that were missed while in the hands of a guest are displayed so the user stays connected.
